Approximately twenty-five thousand residences in south-east Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on the start of the week after intense storm systems swept through the area, producing powerful gusts topping over 100 km/h.
Massive Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Destruction
Residents reported giant hailstones measuring up to 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been hit with significant hail.

Utility workers were focused on reestablishing power throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams working to handle the widespread outages.
Southern State's Weather Woes
At the same time, nearly one thousand residents in the southern state also experienced energy failures after Melbourne recorded its most precipitation in a year and a half.
Rescue organizations received over five hundred calls for help across the state, mainly for property damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

At one point on yesterday, more than 28k power users in the state were without power.
Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along large portions of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with continued storm activity predicted across various areas of both areas.
Safety Concern
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
